Hello Family and Friends,
In case you haven’t heard Les and I have changed our life. Les has retired from 35 or so years of military service and I have retired from 27 years with the military, plus some stupid jobs along the way. It was finally time to put into action the thought we have had for over 15 years. We sold our house and most of our belongings (everything fits in a 5x10 storage unit {yeah we did it}) to buy a 5th wheel and travel the great US of A. (about 2 – 4 years).
Now selling your stuff is not as hard as it sounds. A true blessing was finding Dawn Bruin-Slot as a new mom for our loved family horse Axel. He is already having a stars life with her. Dawn is also leasing my horse trailer. Did I mention that Axel and she are going to a gaited horse clinic in Pennsylvania ? Well they are!!!! I know!! He is a star!
The next blessing is my dear friends Dug and Val Jordan. They are babysitting Sophie until we settle down back home. They have an amazing farm with lots of space and horses. Val rides a lot and promises that Sophie will get her exercise. Something Sophie loves and looks forward to.
The most support came from our friends and neighbors Mike and Sharon Jones. They ran our estate sale and fed us when we had sold everything to cook on. There are just too many things to mention when it comes to them. Thanks!
We had help from our whole family in many ways and we thank you all.
Here is the question. Why can Marcia keep her horse and Les sells his corvette? All I can say is it was all Les’ decision. He knows the Sophie is a “special” horse. Though we both loved his car he hated to put it in storage. Also Les is ready to move on to a different Classic car when we come home. Trust me shopping for that will be a blast!!
Back to this adventure. We are in Cadillac parked in my niece Elizabeth and her husband Chris’s driveway. This has been a perfect spot to figure out how to camp. (Did I mention we have never camped a day in our lives? {Except for “Army Camping Sir”}) We have learned how to fill our water tanks, turn on the fridge and pack our cabinets I am sure Les has learned more then me at this point and I am fine with that. Chris and Elizabeth say we can stay as long as we want but since we would like to come back we are hitting the road to Hartwick Pines this Sunday. There is talk they will meet us in the U.P. when we get settled there. I hope that happens.
Since we have been in Cadillac we have gone to the Wetherell Family 4th of July extravaganza and been able to spend some fun times with my Great Nieces Abby and Jessie. Enough for now Thanks for checking in on us.
